The King of the Universe

27 All the ends of the earth
will remember and turn to the LORD,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before him,

28 for dominion belongs to the LORD
and he rules over the nations.

Psalm 22:27-28

Dominion belongs to the Lord. He rules over the nations. The Lord God is King of the universe! And we humans continually try to broker authority away from Him. We want to rule our lives instead of giving Him the honor that is due Him. We want to call the shots (doing what we want) and not yield to His will. Another word for this is sin… and it’s why we need a Savior.

God Almighty allows me to plan my days and do my work, but if I ever go on with out Him… if I pursue my pursuits without an eye toward the King of Heaven and with a heart that gives Him glory for who He is – I can quickly assume the throne of my universe. I am not the king! I am a servant in the Kingdom.

29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship;
all who go down to the dust will kneel before him—
those who cannot keep themselves alive.

30 Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord.

31 They will proclaim his righteousness
to a people yet unborn—
for he has done it.

King of Heaven, You alone are worthy of honor because You alone have dominion over Your creation. You rule the nations! Rule over my heart and mind this day. I need Your help to serve You with joy. Remind me of the awesome privilege it is just to know you, as well as represent You to people I will come into contact with today. May they see You in me and not myself. This is my prayer this day.
