The Way I Should Go
In spite of this, you did not trust in the LORD your God, who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go.
Deuteronomy 1:32-33
By not trusting the Lord, the Israelites rebelled against Him. Even though He had been proved faithful and trustworthy, fighting for His people against Pharoah and the Egyptians, the Israelites did not trust Him to fight for them against the Amorites and the Canaanites.
God will powerfully lead His people on their journey, going ahead of us… preparing the way… showing us the way we should go. Even so, we must trust Him. Our lack of trust, while potentially unbelievable (who wouldn’t trust God!?), is all too common. God leads… He does not shove. You can try your own way and He will let you. Repentance will be needed because that is rebellion! It’s not always rebellion, I suppose. Sometimes I have ‘run ahead’ of God unknowingly. I can get excited about something, put the blinders on and not seek God about it like I should. Eventually it becomes clear that ‘God’s not in it’ and so, what do I do? What I should have done before! I seek God and trust Him… and He leads! He is most often gentle in His course corrections with those who are humble in heart. By His grace!
Father, my brief journey testifies to Your glory! Thank You for the times in my life when You clearly lead me – and powerfully! I think about those times because they encourage me to trust You now. You are still leading. You still go ahead of me, searching out places for me to ‘camp’ and You show me the way I should go. And when needed, You fight for me. Amazing! I only need to be still and watch you work on behalf of Your child. Glory to You! Thank You for Your Spirit that lives with me and leads me this day. Help me to trust You more. Receive glory through my life, is my prayer.

I will say Amen! If God is with us no one will be against us. Praise the Lord!
