Healing Leaves

On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse.

Revelation 22:2-3

In the New Jerusalem (heaven) there is the river of life flowing down the main street (of gold). There is on each side of the river the tree of life that bears a crop of fruit each month. (I think of this as God’s provision. There will be no need in heaven!) The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

The nations need healing! People are broken and decimated because of the curse of sin. In heaven there will be no curse and healing and wholeness will be our experience.

Heaven is our hope! It is to be desired and looked forward to – and I do. The curse of sin is real. I feel the effects of it in my life and everybody I know, really. No one is able to escape the pain that sin causes in this life. It’s almost impossible to imagine life without the curse. It’s like the air we breathe. I’m looking forward to the leaves of the tree of life!

Jesus has brought freedom and the forgiveness of sin. He has eliminated the consequence of the curse for me and has provided the way to Heaven. This is why I worship Him. This is why I live for Him. Even so, this is still a broken, messed up world. This pain will be our experience until we see Christ face to face and we’re brought fully into the Presence of God. This world makes me yearn for the next.

Lord Jesus – Thank You for the hope of the Gospel. Thank You that there is more to life than just this life! Thank You for the healing You bring now and the complete wholeness You will bring one day. Be glorified through me today!
