Who Am I?

The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

12 And God said, "I will be with you.

Exodus 3:7-12

With the exception of Jesus, has there been a man more powerfully used by God than Moses? And yet Moses’ beginnings and journey into leadership is not impressive at all. He is the opposite, maybe, of the ‘natural-born leader.’ Even so, God is going to use Him greatly.

In the text when Moses asks, ‘Who am I to go before Pharoah?’ I want to answer: “You’re someone who has heard from God! In a burning bush that is not consumed, God has visited you and has told you what He is gong to do. He has decided to use you, Moses, to accomplish it! That’s who you are! God even promises, ‘I will be with you.’”

Lord, You are Immanuel – God with us. You are God in real-time, present in my life through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for Your Presence and Your leading. Having been with You is enough! Thank You for what You have decided to do. Use me in Your plans! I am Your servant.

Picking A Fight

I enthusiastically led out when the Elders called Norkenzie to a 'Season of Prayer' - January until Resurrection Sunday in March. It is absolutely the right thing! But...

As amazing as it is, it also feels like we've picked a fight with Satan. Not that Lucifer himself is taking swings, but however the spirit-realm works, the dark side is striving against us.

It's weird. I am at the same time encouraged and whooped. I am jazzed and tired. Excited about the future and tentative about it too. Actually, if feels like spiritual warfare.

The opposition is always there, if I think about it. Maybe it's the 'Season of Prayer' that heightens my sensitivity to it.

"Greater is He who is in me than he who is the world." (1 John 4:4)

Being Well Built

"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

Luke 6:46-49

It's the threesome needed for having a 'well-built' life:
1. Come to Jesus
2. Hear His Words
3. Put His Words into Practice

2 out of 3 won't work. I need all three, in order...

The torrent is coming... get ready! And then after that one, there's another coming. Life is stormy.

What To Do?

"What should we do then?" the crowd asked.

Luke 3:10

John said to those coming out to be baptized by him, "Who warned you to escape the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance." His baptism was one of repentance, but just being submerged in water doesn't mean much. There needs to be a life that reflects the change of heart that brings one to repentance. So the people naturally say: "What should we do then?" The Tax Collectors asked: "What should we do?" The Roman Soldiers also asked: "What should we do?" John gave them all marching orders, practical and meaningful things that would demonstrate repentance.

What should I do? Thinking and believing the 'right stuff' isn't enough. What should I DO?

Thank you, Lord, for meeting with me. Thank you for the practical and meaningful things I can do to show my heart for You and Your Kingdom. Be glorified in and through my life today, I pray, in the Name of Jesus.
