With A Word

When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."

Matthew 8:16-17

With a single word Jesus drove out from people evil spirits that were possessing them. With just a word! When the two violent demon-possessed men in the Gadarenes encountered Jesus, they spoke many more words than Jesus did.

"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?" Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."

He said to them, "Go!"

These evil spirits could only yield to the Son of God.

Jesus said ‘Quiet. Be still.’ and the raging storm became calm. With a single ‘Be healed’ the sick and lame were cured of their diseases. This God spoke and all of creation was made. He is Almighty and nothing is too difficult for Him. Nothing is impossible.

Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening. Any word from You is a demonstration of Your love and grace because I do not deserve anything from You. Any good thing that comes from my life is a demonstration of Your power for I was a dead man who is now alive! Show Yourself strong and powerful through my life this day – all for Your glory.
