Don't Follow The Majority

Much time had been lost, and sailing had already become dangerous because by now it was after the Fast.  So Paul warned them, “Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.”  But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship.  Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided that we should sail on, hoping to reach Phoenix and winter there.
Acts 27:9-12

The majority often makes decisions.  The majority is most often wrong!  Don’t make your life decisions based on what the majority thinks.  If you have a single person who is filled with the Spirit of God and who loves you – ask what they think.  The centurion went with the flow of the majority and ended up going with the flow of hurricane force winds for 14 days and nights!  (Acts 27:27)

The most important voice for me to listen to is the Holy Spirit’s voice.  Often times I can hear Him through others who are attune to His leading.  To follow any other opinion is often disastrous.  I will follow Jesus.

Lord, speak to me in powerful, clear and succinct ways so that I may be led by You and make wise decisions.  Do Your work through me.  Use my voice to speak to others.  Give me the insight and discernment to know when it’s not You leading me – all for Your glory!
